Outfits just for you. . . . .

Dressing your body type is all about illusions and knowing your body type and what works and does not work with your body type.  There are many tricks that can be used to create the body that you want.

Below are outfits put together for each body shape.

Women with Triangle body shapes should try to emphasize the top and cinch the waist.  This outfit has a ruffle top which adds dimension to your bust area creating the illusion of a bigger bust.  The blazer cinches at the waist creating the illusion of a smaller waist.  When choosing bottoms you should choose something that doesn't have a lot of detail or patterns.  In this case all black leggings without designs.

Inverted Triangle is the very opposite of Triangle and the woman has a bigger bust then bottom.  You try not to add anymore detail to the bust area since it is already the largest part.  The outfit shown is a perfect example. The bust area has not detail and is a light color which does not draw any attention to the breast.  The bottom however is a bubble skirt with a plaid pattern which adds dimension creating the illusion of a bigger bottom.

The "perfect shape" and the shape that most women long for is Hourglass. Personally I don't believe that any one shape is better then another.  Basically with this shape its about emphasizing what you already have. Cinching the waist.  In this picture the top that is used naturally cinches at the waist.  The top is v neck showing off the bust and the jeans do not have to much detail but because they are denim it adds come dimension.

If you really don't have any curves at all you are Rectangle. When choosing an outfit you need to create curves.  Which is really easy to do.  Usually adding a belt right at the waist created the illusion of a hourglass shape.

Ok O or should I say Apple ladies it your turn. I know just about all of you have already heard that wearing all black makes you look smaller well guess what?  It's not a rumor this is so true.  Do you know what else makes you look slimmer.  Wearing a wrap skirt just like the one in the pic below.  Something about wrapped skirts just pull it all together.  Also it focuses the attention else were.

Hope that you found some useful tips that you can take with you the next time you go shopping.

Im So Pear.......

So like I said before I am a student at The Art Institute.  A few quarters back we discovered our body types in fashion coordination.  I was very shocked to find out I was a Pear Shape. Not disappointed though.  For some reason I though that slim girls, such as myself couldn't be pear shaped.  I'm actually very excited.  I like have a bigger bottom. Hope it gets even bigger.

I so love myself and my body.  I remember when I hated it.  I always wanted to be bigger.  Skin and bones is all I thought I was.  In the African American Community its hard being skinny people always telling you to gain some weight.  But who cares.

I Love Me!!

So I decided to dedicated a blog to me.

How to find your Body Measurements

Female body measurements are easy to obtain. To find your own body measurements here are some simple steps. These steps are to find the female body measurements for the breast, waist, and hips.

You should have an assistant someone who can take the measurements for you. It is possible to do them you self but it's easier if you have help and that is what I recommend.

The first thing is your posture. Make sure your standing straight up no leaning. Also you need to make sure that your not wearing any bulk clothing. It's best to be in your brand underwear.

1. Measuring the bust- So standing straight have your assistant measure the fullest part of your bust. This is usually right over the nipple. Once you have the measurement have your assistant write it down.

2. Next measuring the waist. This can be some what confusing because al to of people are confused about were there waist is. To find your waist just bend over. Were you actually bend is the waist. Stand back up and have your assistant measure your waist.

3. The final step is to measure your hips. Like your bust you should measure at the fullest part of the hip. Write this measurement down too.

Looking over your measurements you should be able to determine your body type.

Triangle- Your hips will be larger then your waist and bust measurements
Inverted Triangle- Your bust will be larger then your hip and waist measurements
Hourglass- Your waist is significantly smaller then your hip and bust measurements
Rectangle- All your measurements will be about the same
Round- your waist is the largest part and is wider then your hips and bust but all the numbers can be close in number.

Five Female Body Types

There is a variety of body types for both men and woman.  I will be focusing on woman because woman are more concerned with there body types then men.  Also there are more body types for woman then there are for men.

The important thing is knowing what body type you are so that you know how to dress that particular body type and also bring out you most flattering features.  Or maybe there is something you would like to hide.  Knowing your body type can also help you to hide certain body types.

So let's began.  There are 5 common body types for woman. They are Triangle which can also be called pear or A shape.  There is also inverted triangle, hourglass, rectangle sometimes called bannana or tube, and round which is also sometimes called an O shape or apple.

Triangle shaped woman are woman who have a fuller bottom area. The hips are wider then the top half of their body.

Inverted triangle is the opposite of pear shaped.  Woman who have a bigger top measurement then their bottom half are considered to be and inverted triangle.

An hour glass shape is a shape that the majority of woman want to be.  The top half and bottom half of the body are proportionate  to each other.  The measurement of the breast and the hip area will be very close in number if not exactly the same. An important factor about an hour glass shape is that the waist is fairly smaller then the breast and hips.

Rectangle body shape is also known as a boy shape.  This is when your breast, waist, and hips are the same measurements or are very close to the same.

An O shape or an apple shape is when your waist is the largest part.  It is bigger then you breast and also bigger then  your hips.
